I start every year with a blog post of my new year resolutions, It’s become a tradition on my little corner of the internet. Last year I set myself a tonne of goals which you can read here and I vowed to stick to them and I thought I’d share with you a follow up post, a year on; did I stick to those goals? And what do I want from 2020?.
My 2019 goals
I Set a high bar for 2019 and with that came a hell of resolutions. I wanted to push myself to achieve the best possible and I do feel like I’ve stuck to the majority of my goals really well. I’ll start with what I didn’t stick to and that I’m bringing into 2020
Exercise; I did chuckle a little when I read this because I just knew it wasn’t going to happen. But this is going to come into 2020 with me and I’ll try my best to stick to it this year.
My newsletter; I think I expected too much from myself with this one and I’m going to have a good think about what I want from my newsletter. I planned last year to send it out monthly but generally I use cant warrant that so I’m thinking of starting fresh with it and maybe doing it quarterly and including some exclusive treats in them so if that’s something you’re interested in; please check that out here.
I didn’t work with as many brands as I would have liked to but I’m not going to make that a ‘resolution’ I’m just going to prioritise my blog a little more and let that kind of thing come naturally. I also wanted to post once a week consistently and I am going to bring that into 2020 with me because it’s been a little scattered this year.
SO… what did I actually stick to?
I practiced more with make-up and I even tried to be a little bit more creative with it. In my last blogmas post I created a cute little Santa hat look and I was actually quite happy with it, I do want to give myself chance to learn more skills which I’m really excited for.
Self-care. I vowed to stick to self care more this year and I feel like I did well with that, I’m definitely carrying this through because self-care is so, so important to me. I’m definitely the kind of person who needs time out to themselves to feel actually human. I also wanted to be able to say ‘no’ more and give myself more of a break especially in terms of work and I have really done that and I am really proud of myself for that because I am such a people pleaser usually.
I have been eating better this year, which was one of my goals. I’ve been buying a lot more fresh than frozen. Although I did have a stage of late nights at work where I couldn’t be bothered to cook where I essentially lived off pot pastas and microwaved jacket potatoes but after a late shift now I try to make something still quick but a little bit better for me such as a stir fry or pasta salad etc.
My 2020 goals
I want to make 2020 my year. I’ve got a lot I want to achieve next year and I’m going to really stick to the goals I make this year. So here they are, my 2020 blogging resolutions, I’m not setting a thousand goals this year just a few small ones that I know I’ll stick to.
My blogging goals
Posting consistently; I did have this as a resolution last year but it was a bit of a flake. I did try my best to keep up with it but life just gets too busy at times which is okay, but I do want to work more on managing my time and making space for writing posts.
Newsletter; My newsletter goal for last year was to send one out monthly. For the near future I am scrapping that goal. I would like to send one out perhaps quarterly but with more content and some exclusive content included.
Post content; I want to include more make-up in my posts, perhaps a few more time lapses of me creating looks etc. I want to make my blog a place which has a little more going on.
Build a bit of an audience; I’ve sort of been winging this blog thing since day one. It was always a hobby and it still is a hobby to me but I’d love to build a little audience filled with people who are also just out here winging life as well.
